"Austria has pledged friendship with Germany," says the Austrian government. Open revolt of the Austrian Nazis is near. Joseph Kennedy's departure for Europe, representing President Roosevelt, is dramatized. The wife of Civil War General Sheridan has died. An unemployed carpenter stabs the Hoboken (New Jersey) Relief Administrator. Glenn Martin predicts that a airplane with the carrying capacity of a destroyer will be developed. Gabriella D'Anunzio, the Italian hero, dies of a cerebral hemorrhage. Milton Cross announces a broadcast of "Aida," as Giovanni Martinelli's voice gives out during the performance. Tenor Frederick Jagel takes his place with no notice. Milton Cross may actually be on the program, the part of one of Jagel's sons sounds just like Bobby Breen.

Ayn Rand (1905-1982) was born Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum in Russia and moved to the U.S. in 1926. She was a writer and philosopher known for her two best-selling novels, "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged." Rand developed a philosophical system she named Objectivism, which she says she had to develop because other philosophies were not consistent with her own beliefs and fictional writings. In this program, she begins by explaining Objectivism. This program is an edition of "Night Call", a coast-to-coast call-in show in the late 1960's.
