Amelia Mary Earhart was an American aviation pioneer and advocate for women in aviation. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Earhart set many flying records and supported the Equal Rights Amendment. She also encouraged women to pursue opportunities and reject restrictive social norms, particularly in aviation. On July 2, 1937, Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to become the first woman to circumnavigate the globe.
